The Sinfonie Orchester Biel Solothurn (SOBS) was founded in 1969. Its origins were largely shaped by its work with conductors Armin Jordan and Jost Meier. Since the 2012/13 season the SOBS baton has been wielded by Kaspar Zehnder. The orchestra’s artistic work centres on its symphony concerts in Biel and Solothurn. While it focuses mainly on the Classical repertoire, numerous world premieres evidence its interest in the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Besides symphony concerts and opera productions, the orchestra also gives summer concerts with young performers. International tours are a regular feature of the work of the SOBS.

Its latest CD, with works by Robert Radecke, is the first in a new series of recordings of works by relatively unknown composers of the Romantic period.
